I sometimes wonder if I should change the focus of nikipress.com from good news , to truth. There has to be a place for truth. I have all the right machinery to make it possible. Or perhaps I should buy another domain just for this purpose.

Disrupted land documentary

My beloved South Africa. What have you become ? You’ve choked on the bitter pill of lies and un-forgiveness. Not for what was done to you but for what you believe was done to you. It never happened .

I just don’t want to hear of anyone’s sympathy anymore. If you do the right thing , they’ll screw you.

 

This guy is really funny

None the less. He makes a compelling argument. I think it depends on what you’re going to use the camera for. If it’s to capture news , I don’t think you need a full frame sensor. If you want to do portraits with bokeh then buy a full frame body otherwise don’t worry about it. I think it’s a pitty that the camera companies don’t make lenses for cropped sensor bodies. They want people to buy the bulky camera’s for portrait work which cost more.

Becoming more active in photography

Getting active in photography. Recently I have been so frustrated. What else is news , so I used my saved photos on my hard drive to help distract me. I joined Gurushots a while ago and recently I joined National Geographic. I just uploaded photos for fun and tried to see how I fare in some contests.

I am surprised at how far I got with so little time invested in photography. Most of my equipment is make do and specials I saw for a bargain. I also recently got a scanner working again by embedding windows XP into my windows 7 operating system using virtualbox. So now I have a 19200 dpi scanner for negatives working again. I also managed to embed my flickr account into this blog. Anyway .. this is how I have fared so far in gurushots. I have managed to reach the rank of veteran.

I also entered some photos in national geographic to see if they’re worth anything and guess what ? ! I’ve received some favorites there by some guys. Just a dreamer is all I am . But it’s good to dream as long as you take some action along the way eh ?

I am still messing about with my scanner … but here’s what I managed to get out of a negative using bad lighting on the scanner and a program called rawtherapee. 

 

Entered photography Contest again

I decided to entered a phogography contest in gurushots again. Brilliant.. I got to all star again for the challenge of flying. I’ve entered these photos before except for the helicopter one. Nice to be acknowledged again.

The Bridge Church Celebration

I posted this on bridge-pretoria.nikipress.org but I’ll post it here again. It’s been such a mission to get this network off the ground. Sometimes I think I am crazy because I slog away at it almost like someone who’s possessed. Perhaps subconsciously I have a need to succeed that I should deal with but none the less sometimes I enjoy looking at the spaghetti I’ve created. I just wonder how relevant is it in the world today ? Does anyone even care because everyone can do this. I mean everyone has a facebook account or a youtube account . People are buying micophones left right and center and everyone wants to be heard. People are addicted to popularity. They want their five seconds of fame I suppose.

Anyway.. I’ve always believed I’d make a good DJ. So as one who enjoys passing on the vibe enjoy this video.

You might want to check out bridge-pretoria.nikipress.org just to see how the network is doing. This was a social event and we’re having a good time. I walked around with a Xiami Redmi 4a. It costs 1800 rand. I want to show that it doesn’t matter what equipment you have you can still be part of this network. Cost is minimal.
